High School Scholarship: Application Deadline April 1st

Last year, HW FOTA was excited to award our first ever senior scholarships to HWRHS graduates Ian Castracane and Sophie Keys. We recently caught up with Ian and Sophie to hear about how their first year away from high school was going, what they were up to artistically, and how the FOTA scholarship has benefited them.

Ian, a first year student at Northwestern University shared, “The HW FOTA scholarship has already had a great impact on my time here! At the end of the fall semester it allowed me to travel to Los Angeles where I acted in a short film that will premiere this June.” It's also helped him continue his passion for painting, making it easier for him to purchase the necessary supplies. Ian strongly encourages anyone who wants to pursue the arts outside of High School to apply for this scholarship, as it has been incredibly helpful to him!

Sophie is a first year student at the University of Vermont, and a member of the Liberal Arts Scholars Program. During her first semester, she took two studio art classes, Drawing and Film Photography. According to Sophie, “The FOTA scholarship helped fund some of the art expenses that came along with my studio classes — buying paper pads, drawing materials and photo paper.” She appreciates the support from FOTA which helped defer costs that accompany art making in college.

Our 2023 HWRHS Senior Scholarship Application is live! Please share with the art-loving HWRHS senior in your life and encourage them to apply. We will award scholarships totaling $2,000, with individual awards ranging from $500 to $2,000 to HWRHS seniors who have demonstrated an interest in and commitment to the arts during their time at HWRHS.
